Indian Stock Markets: From 18k to 17k in no time !

Just a couple of weeks back I was contemplating to write about the journey of Indian stock markets with Sensex crossing 18000 levels. But, to my surprise, I am finding myself writing over here about journey of Sensex from 18000 to 17000 points, a steal of 1000 points from the recent peaks. Without any doubt it can be pointed out that the contagion risks of Greek crisis are now spreading to other weaker European countries such as Portugal, Spain, Italy and now even Hungary; regarding their susceptibility of exiting the vicious debt traps.

Telecom Tuesday: 3G Auction prices swell further

3G Auction prices are touching dizzying heights now, Day 20th of 3G auction saw swell in the frontrunners bid prices. The auction which started on 19th April, saw pan-India license price balloon over to Rs.10,347.67 crore, up close to 200% of the expected price of 3,500 crores. 3G Auction pricing – Day 20 The government’s provisional revenue from the sale stood at Rs.41,765.66 crore, much more than what it expected.

State of Internet in India – Pathetic !

Yes, it is pathetic to say the least – India has to improve its broadband speeds…Yes, we are riding high on the mobile revolution, but it is imperative that broadband Internet access reaches nook & corner of India for it to really be in the forefront on Information Highway. How pathetic is India’s Internet situation is aptly pointed out by recent report released by “ Akamai – State of the Internet ” Here are some of the highlight of the report: India ranked #114 for average connections speed, at 849 kbps. Think about it, a country which is supposedly an IT hub is ranked nearly at the bottom.

Once the Unique Identification (UID) scheme is implemented, don’t be surprised to know that even the foreigners could be eligible to get a UID card to be registered in their name under the scheme. The government is planning to inculcate a single data-base for all the people in the country irrespective of their citizenship
